GreenWorks!

GreenWorks! Grants Available

GreenWorks! grants engage PLT educators and their students with their local community in "learning-by-doing" environmental projects.  Student leadership, service-learning, and community participation are the cornerstones to GreenWorks! projects. These grassroots action projects enable schools and youth organizations across the country to make a positive impact on their communities.

GreenWorks! grants are awarded in the spring and fall of each year in the following two funding categories:

$250 to $1,000 GreenWorks! Grants
Application (MS Word, 65 KB)
The majority of GreenWorks! funding will be awarded to project proposals in the $250 to $1000 category.

Proposal requirements include:

1) Applicant must have received training in PLT.
2) Youth must plan and implement the project.
3) The project must integrate student learning and community service.
4) The project must include at least one community partner, such as a local organization or business.
5) The project must acquire 50% matching funds.

$250 - $1000 projects must be completed in one years' time.

$1,001 - $5,000 GreenWorks! Grants
Application (MS Word, 65 KB)
The $1,001 - $5,000 funding category is designed to be extremely competitive.  As such, the number of proposals funded in this category will be limited.

To qualify for $1001 - $5000 grants, applicants must meet all the above requirements, as well as:

6) Involve increased numbers of students, classes, youth organizations, and community partners.
7) Include a plan to administer a Project Learning Tree professional development workshop for the staff of the school(s) or organization(s) sponsoring the proposal.

$1,001 - $5,000 projects must be completed within two years' time.

Deadlines for submitting proposals:

Spring 2009 Funding Cycle - Applications due April 30, 2009
Fall 2009 Funding Cycle - Applications due October 31, 2009
